The Spring Reset: Simple Ways to Feel Better as the Days Get Longer

There's something about the first signs of spring that makes us want to open the windows, clear out the cupboards and start fresh.

But while we're busy spring cleaning our homes, it can also be a good time to check in with ourselves.

Winter has a way of changing our routines. We spend more time indoors, move a little less, reach for heavier foods and sometimes let a few of our healthier habits slide. That's normal. A spring reset doesn't need to mean a detox, a strict new diet or an ambitious list of things you'll probably abandon by next month.

Sometimes, it's simply about getting back to the basics that help you feel good.

1. The obvious, but often missed - start with hydration

It sounds simple, but water is one of those everyday essentials that can easily be overlooked.

As the weather warms up and we become more active, keeping hydrated becomes even more important. Rather than waiting until you're thirsty, try making water part of your routine throughout the day.

Keep a bottle nearby, have a glass of water when you wake up, or add some fresh fruit or herbs if plain water doesn't excite you.

And remember, quality matters too. If you're paying more attention to what goes into your body, the water you drink every day deserves a place in that conversation.

2. Bring some colour back to your plate

Spring brings an abundance of fresh produce, making it a great time to add more variety to your meals.

Think leafy greens, berries, citrus, colourful vegetables, nuts, seeds and whole foods.

Rather than focusing on what you need to remove from your diet, think about what you can add.

An extra handful of greens. A piece of fruit with breakfast. Some seeds over your yoghurt. A colourful salad alongside dinner.

Small additions made consistently can be much easier to maintain than a complete overhaul.

3. Get outside again

Longer days make getting outdoors a little easier.

A walk before work, lunch outside, gardening, a weekend at the beach or simply taking the dog for an extra lap around the neighbourhood all count.

You don't necessarily need a complicated exercise program. Regular movement that fits naturally into your life can be much easier to stick with.

And after months of shorter winter days, a little sunshine and fresh air can feel pretty good too.

4. Check in with your daily nutrition

Even with the best intentions, life gets busy and our diets aren't always as varied as we'd like them to be.

This is where supplements can have a place — alongside a balanced diet, not instead of one.

Depending on your individual needs, you may choose to include vitamins, minerals, superfoods or functional foods as part of your everyday routine. Our Daily Nutrition range is a good place to start, or if you're looking for a lift, explore our Energy & Vitality collection.

The important thing is to be considered about what you're taking.

More isn't necessarily better.

Choose products that make sense for your lifestyle, understand what's in them and, where appropriate, seek professional advice about what's right for you.

5. Give your sleep routine a reset too

The lighter mornings and evenings can change our sleeping patterns, so spring is also a good opportunity to look at your bedtime routine.

Try winding down at roughly the same time each evening, reducing screen time before bed and creating a bedroom environment that feels calm and comfortable.

Good sleep isn't something we can always control, but giving our bodies a consistent opportunity to rest is a good place to start. If you're looking for a little extra support, our Stress & Relaxation collection has some gentle options worth exploring.

6. Don't forget your four-legged family

Spring usually means more outdoor time for them too.

Longer walks, trips to the park, beach adventures and warmer days can all mean changes to your pet's routine.

It's a good time to check their grooming, hydration, diet and general wellbeing — explore our Pet Wellness range and Pet Grooming essentials while you're at it — and perhaps give their bowls, bedding and favourite toys a spring clean while you're at it.

Because the spring reset isn't only for the humans.

Keep it simple

Perhaps the best thing about a spring reset is that it doesn't have to happen overnight.

Choose one or two things you'd like to do a little better and start there.

  • Drink more water.
  • Add something colourful to your plate.
  • Get outside.
  • Move your body.
  • Prioritise sleep.
  • Pay attention to what you're putting into your body.
  • Small choices have a way of adding up.
